Federer beat Soderling 7-6(5), 6-3. The top seed needs just 2 sets and a tie breaker to overcome the fourth seed, leaving him to be the first player to qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals.

Murray beat Ferrer 6-2, 6-2. The fifth seed from Britain eases past the seventh seed, dropping just 4 games, to advance tot the Semi-Finals.

Bryan and Bryan beat Paes and Dlouhy 6-3, 6-4. The top seeds need 2 sets to ease past the third seeds, to qualify for the Semi-Finals.

Fyrstenberg and Matkowski beat Melzer and Petzschner 6-3, 7-6(7). The sixth seeds need 2 sets and a tie breaker to beat the eighth seeds.

Berdych beat Roddick 7-5, 6-3. The sixth seed beats the eighth seed in 2 sets, ending Roddick's chances of advancing.

Nadal beat Djokovic 7-5, 6-2. The top seed is in great form easing past the third seed in two sets, qualifying for the Semi-Finals.

Moodle and Norman beat Kubot and Marach 6-1, 6-3. The seventh seeds ease past the fifth seeds, dropping just 4 games.

Nestor and Zimonjic beat Bhupathi and Mirnyl 7-6(5), 7-6(1). The second seeds battle past the third seeds, needing 2 tie breakers and sets.

Federer beat Murray 6-4, 6-2. The top seed disappoints the crowd as he needs just 2 sets to easily beat the British number 1.

Soderling beat Ferrer 7-5, 7-5. The fourth seed overcomes the seventh seed in 2 close sets.

Melzer and Petzschner beat Dlouhy and Paes 7-6(9), 4-6, 10-8. The seventh seeds battle past the third seeds in an epic 3 set match. Note, the last set is first to 10 points not difference of two games.

Frystenberg and Matkowski beat Bryan and Bryan 2-6, 7-6(4), 10-8. The sixth seeds shock the world number ones in an epic 3 set match, which they had to come back from a set down and win a tie breaker, leading to the final set, which was very close.

Here are some pictures I took when I went to the O2 arena for the first day of the ATP World Tour Finals.

Practice courts/fan zone

This is a picture taken on the way to the courts. The large building on the left is the main practice courts. The entire area pictured is the fan zone. The buildings on the far side of the picture is where fans can play a variety of games. One of these games is serving as fast as you can and the winner gets tickets on a plane. The buildings on the bottom left are fan areas, which include the art balling area, which will be mentioned later.

This is the other, smaller, practice court.

On the way to the O2 arena from the tube station there were columns with players on them - there was only 4 of Murray, Nadal, Federer and Djokovic. Here they are.

Over the entrance of the O2 arena there was a photo with all the players who qualified.




Art Balling


Art balling is basically hitting a ball with paint on to paper to make a shape. It is how the top 8 players made their paintings going on auction. Here is a normal example of art balling and was made at the place where fans could make their own art balling picture.

Djokovic beat Berdych 6-3, 6-3. The third seed eases past the sixth seed in 2 sets.

Nadal beat Roddick 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4. The top seed has to battle past Roddick in 3 sets and a tiebreaker, to win his first group stage match.

Murray beat Soderling 6-2, 6-4. Murray eases past Soderling in his first group stage match, in front of his home crowd. I will be releasing videos and pictures for this match later.

Federer beat Ferrer 6-1, 6-4. The world number 2 eases past Ferrer, winning on his first match point, after saving many break points against Ferrer.

Bryan/Bryan beat Melzer/Petzschner 6-3, 7-5. The top seeds in doubles need just 2 sets to beat the players who won Wimbledon this year.

Tennis Olympic Games Past Winners - men

Tennis at the Olympic Games has had a strange history, at first there were two bronze medalists because there was no 3rd place play off, but this was stopped after a few years, it was later re-adopted. Between 1928 and 1984 tennis at the olympic games was stopped, except for a few exhibitions and demonstrations in 1968 and 1984. No player has ever won the Olympic Games twice.
