ATP Valencia Open and ATP Basel 500

ATP Valencia Open


Tsonga has retired with a knee injury and will be out for the rest of the season.

Youzhny has also retired with a back injury and this will heavily damage his hopes for making the ATP World Tour Finals in a few weeks, because he made the final next week and just lost 300 points.


Monaco beat Murray 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. The top seed and defending champion is shocked in the second round by Monaco.

Cuevas beat Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 6-4. Cuevas eases past the qualifier in straight sets.

Monfils beat Schwank 6-3, 6-3. The eighth seed continues a winning streak, by winning in 2 sets.

Granollers beat Paire 6-2, 6-4. The lucky loser eases past Paire in straight sets.

Simon beat Verdasco 6-1, 6-3. The third seed is easily beaten in 2 sets, damaging his chances to participate in the ATP World Tour Finals.

ATP Basel 500


Stepanek beat De Bakker 6-3, 7-6(5). Stepanek wins a close 2 set match, including a tie breaker.

Roddick beat Querrey 7-5, 7-6(6). The fourth seed beats Querrey in 2 close sets.

Nieminen beat Brands 6-3, 6-2. The two qualifiers play each other in the first round but Nieminen easily wins.

Mathieu beat Mayer 6-3, 6-3. Mathieu surprises Mayer in the first round.

Federer beat Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-4. The top seed eases past Tipsarevic in 2 sets.

Haase beat Isner 6-2, 6-7(5), 7-5. The eight seed needs 3 close sets to be beaten by Haase, Haase will advance to the Quarter Finals.

Kamke beat Berdych 6-4, 6-1. The third seed and ATP World Tour Finals hopeful was dealt a blow to his challenge to qualify, as he is easily beaten by a qualifier.
