Simon beat Golubev 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Simon comes back from a set down to defeat Golubev in the first round.

Stepanek beat Almagro 7-6(3), 6-4. Stepanek works hard to beat Almagro in a close 2 set match, including a tie breaker.

Verdasco beat Clement 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. The sixth seed comes back from a set down to beat Clement, winning  12 of the last 15 games to advance to the third round.

Monaco beat Querrey 7-6(7), 6-2. Monaco needs a tie breaker and 2 sets to beat Querrey.

Stakhovsky beat Marchenko 6-2, 6-2. The qualifier is easily beaten by Stakhovsky.

Nalbandian beat Granollers 6-3, 6-1. Nalbandian eases past the man who made the final at Valencia last week, dropping just 4 games.

Gulbis beat Youzhny 6-4, 3-0 ret. Youzhny retires with a back injury for the second week in a row, ending his chances of reaching the ATP World Tour Finals.

Bellucci beat Kohlschreiber 7-6(5), 5-7, 6-3. Bellucci beats Kohlschreiber in an extremely close 3 set match, including a tie breaker.

Monfils beat Becker 7-6(4), 6-4. The 12th seed needs 2 sets and and a tie breaker to beat Becker.

Berdych beat Serra 6-3, 6-1. The fifth seed, who is chasing for one of the last 3 positions for the ATP World Tour Finals, eases past Serra, dropping 4 games.
