Clisters beat Dulgheru 6-1, 6-2. The third seed has no trouble thrashing the Romanian in straight sets at the cost of just 3 games.

Kuznetsova beat Dokic 6-2, 6-2. Kuznetsova drops just 4 games on the way to beating Dokic in straight sets.

WTA Hobart


Vinci beat Oprandi 7-6(0), 6-3. The fourth seed needs two sets and a tie breaker to beat Oprandi.

Errani beat Chakvetadze 7-6(5), 6-3. The seventh seed needs a first set tie break and overall 2 sets to beat the Russian.

Kerber beat Date-Krumm 7-5, 7-6(3). The eighth seed has to win 2 close sets to beat the ageing Date-Krumm.

Morita beat Amanmuradova 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(3). Morita has to come back from a set down and finish with a tie breaker to beat Amanmuradova.
